From Business Card to Website
Fiona Macintyre needed a fully functional e-commerce website. Budgets and timelines were tight. Thankfully, Fiona is a fabulous jeweller with a sharp aesthetic confidence. It was a pleasure to work with her.
The client came to this project with a beautifully designed logo and signature angel wing background pattern already in use on her business card. Additionally, she had plenty of photo documentation to represent the works to be displayed and sold on her site.
My designs bring these elements together, creating an elegant website with ease of use and aesthetic impact as top priorities.
The site was built using the Shopify framework. It must be said that while straight custom coding with industry standards such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JQuery and JavaScript are where the fun really lies for me, platforms such as WordPress and Shopify can make it possible for a site like this to see the light of day within challenging time and budget constraints.
Many elements of the templated framework required the addition of custom code to make the site appear and function just as we liked. Standard sorting allowed users to group and view all rings or necklaces etc. within the same masonry grid gallery; however, I also made it possible for users to effortlessly sort using customized sets which displayed all pieces sharing common motifs regardless of whether they're bracelets, rings, earrings or necklaces. This created a new way to organize the work for anyone attracted to one or another specific motif within Macintyre's body of work.
